SEQUIM — A Port Angeles man is facing theft charges after being arrested in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries in Sequim over the weekend.
Ross Lawrence, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree theft.
Bail was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Clallam County Superior Court today.
A 13-year-old boy who also is accused of participating was arrested and has been released to his family.
Sequim police officers were called to the 1300 block of South Third Avenue about 3 a.m. on Saturday because of a reported vehicle prowler, said Sgt. Sean Madison.
The officers saw Lawrence in the area and questioned him, but did not have probable cause to detain him, Madison said.
Lawrence was later interviewed by police, and information gathered there and from other interviews led to an arrest warrant and a search warrant for Lawrence’s house.
Somewhere between nine and 15 cars were burglarized. Small items were taken, such as loose change, flashlights and small tools.
“We’re still trying to piece the exact number [of burglaries] together,” Madison said.
