PORT ANGELES — The American tourist arrested last week in Victoria for having a small explosive in his truck’s glove box was met by U.S. agents and promptly arrested by Port Angeles police Thursday after he was deported from Canada.
Dodge Chichester White, 39, of Issaquah was released from the Clallam County jail Friday afternoon without bail after being charged in Clallam County Superior Court with reckless endangerment, a gross misdemeanor.
An agent from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement assisted Port Angeles police with detaining White.
He was originally arrested Tuesday after Canada Border Services agents searched White’s vehicle.
He was charged Wednesday in British Columbia Provincial Court in Victoria for possession of an explosive device.
White will not be charged in U.S. District Court, said Mike Milne, a spokesman for U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
Clallam County Prosecutor Deborah Kelly said Canadian officials said they are also planning on dropping charges against White.
