PORT ANGELES — A 22-year-old man accused of robbing Port Angeles’ Jiffy Cleaners on Tuesday has been charged with five till thefts.
Nicholas J. Mallonee pleaded not guilty Friday to five counts of second-degree burglary and one count of second-degree organized retail theft in Clallam County Superior Court.
A trial was set for May 21.
Police said Jiffy Cleaners was one of five Port Angeles businesses Mallonee had robbed since November by either distracting employees or waiting for a clerk to walk away from the cash register.
The other four businesses are Black Diamond Bridal, Okason restaurant, Barhop Taproom and Tiny Bubbles Pet Store.
A total of $1,250 was stolen, according to court documents.
Police said Mallonee accessed each of the tills by flipping a switch underneath it.
