Port Angeles man faces child rape, incest charges

PORT ANGELES — A 30-year-old Port Angeles man faces possible life in prison after being charged with four counts of sex crimes involving a child.

Cody Eugene Lamb, 30, was charged with two counts of first-degree child rape and two counts of first-degree incest on March 16 in Clallam County Superior Court.

He is scheduled to be in court at 1:30 p.m. today for an initial arraignment. He is being held in Clallam County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Two of the counts are Class A felonies and each carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and/or a $50,000 fine, plus restitution and assessments.

The other two counts are Class B felonies and each carry a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and/or a $20,000 fine, plus restitution and assessments.

The alleged incidents occurred on more than one occasion in Port Angeles between May 30, 2019, and May 29, 2021, when the victim was younger than 12, according to the criminal information filed in the case on March 16.

Court documents say the girl told a police interviewer that the man told her not to tell anybody; that it was their secret.

Steve Johnson, deputy prosecuting attorney, had requested $100,000 bail based upon concerns about Lamb committing a violent offense, interfering with justice and information contained in the probable cause statement.

He also requested a no-contact order with the girl and that the court prohibit Lamb from unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 16.

Defense attorney Harry Gasnick said Lamb doesn’t seem to be a risk to the community at large.

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brent Basden granted the no-contact order and the prohibition against unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 16.

He said that means Lamb must not be in a stranger’s home unaccompanied by an adult and must be within sight and sound of that adult at all times.
