PORT ANGELES — A 49-year-old Port Angeles man was being held in Clallam County jail without bond Monday for investigation of first-degree assault after his 40-year-old roommate was stabbed early Sunday morning.
Police say John Greystoke was arrested Sunday for investigation of first-degree assault-domestic violence on his roommate, Adam Gross, outside their apartment complex in the 800 block of C Street.
Gross was in stable condition at Olympic Medical Center on Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police said the abdominal wound was eviscerated.
Gross and witnesses said a man stabbed the victim at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday before fleeing the scene, according to police.
Port Angeles police, Elwha tribal police, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department and city fire department personnel responded.
Gross was then transported to Olympic Medical Center.
Shortly afterward, emergency services dispatchers received a call that a male matching Greystoke’s description had arrived in the area of the 100 block of West Second Street — about a dozen blocks from the incident — and said he stabbed someone.
Greystoke was taken into custody at about 7 a.m.
A knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack was located near Gross’ and Greystoke’s apartment.
Greystoke was on a 72-hour hold Monday morning while the county Prosecuting Attorney’s Office was making a charging decision, Port Angeles Police Sgt. Jason Viada said.
