Port Angeles man surrenders after police outside house for two hours

PORT ANGELES — Police arrested a man Tuesday after spending two hours persuading him to come out of his west-side house for allegedly threatening to burn down another man’s house with his wife in it.

Scott T. Collins, 53, who runs a website in which he attacks public officials and a handful of other Port Angeles residents as “Mr. Everything,” was booked into Clallam County jail for investigation of felony harassment and obstructing a police officer.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said Collins refused to come out of his Port Angeles home at 1901 W. Fifth St. when police arrived and asked him to.

Nine officers, some armed with rifles, spent two hours trying to get him to come out before he surrendered.

Collins runs a self-proclaimed award-winning website “Scott’s World” that includes inflammatory statements about various officials and business people, including County Administrator Jim Jones, Peninsula Daily News Publisher John Brewer, and Port Angeles resident Kevin Holden, to whom Collins dedicates an entire page.

He also uses it to advertise his property maintenance business and rental properties under his “Mr. Everything” nickname.

Holden said Collins started attacking him after he had expressed opposing views on the PDN website, regarding an article about county budget cutbacks, back in September.

“He has this little website and that’s his world,” he said of Collins.

Holden said he has reported the issue to police, but added he wasn’t the one who received the alleged threat from Collins that led to Tuesday’s arrest.

Smith said police had made contact with Collins before but declined to get into details.
