A mediator will enter negotiations between Olympic Medical Center and United Food and Commercial Workers Union in hopes of breaking an impasse between the two parties.
The hospital district’s agreement with Local 1001 of the union expired March 31 and three months of negotiations came to an impasse.
“The issues that are separating us have remained unchanged,” said Patty Warren, Food Workers Union negotiator.
The hospital and the union decided last week to use a mediator.
Both sides agreed to use Pamela Bradburn, an alternate dispute resolution mediator employed by King County. The hospital and the union are both familiar with Bradburn, who mediated the last contract between the two.
Bradburn is expected to meet with the two sides in mid-August.
