PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Fairgrounds will be transported to medieval times this weekend as the Shire of Druim na Doineann celebrates spring with Medieval Faire Maypole IX.
Beginning today, costumed members of the anachronistic organization will gather at the fairgrounds and set up camp for a weekend of activities open to the public.
These include armored knights fighting it out with swords, strolling lords, ladies and monks, egg hunts, archery competitions, chess tourneys, arts and sciences demonstrations, feasts, Celtic stone throws and caber tosses.
Admission is free, with donations requested to help the organization pay for renting the fairgrounds.
