PORT ANGELES — City officials will meet Wednesday with neighbors of Jessie Webster Park to answer questions about possible plans to build an indoor pool at the park.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camp Fire Clubhouse, 619 E. Fourth St.
It will include Parks and Recreation Director Marc Connelly and City Council members Grant Munro, Gary Braun and Lauren Erickson.
The City Council voted 6-1 in June to have city staff research a central location for a new swimming pool rather than refurbish the 43-year-old William Shore Memorial Pool at 225 E. Fifth St.
The lone “no” vote came from Erickson, a member of the city’s pool advisory committee.
She favored submitting a November bond issue to renovate the current pool.
Two locations
When the council discussed new locations at that June meeting, members mentioned both forested Jessie Webster Park, bordered by Albert, Eunice, Second and Fourth streets, and Erickson Park, across from Civic Field and bordered by Francis, Race, Second and Fourth streets.
Clallam County Family YMCA also recently surveyed its members about adding a swimming pool or aquatic center to its building at 302 S. Francis St. in conjunction with the city.
