PORT ANGELES — The cutter Adelie will be commissioned into service at noon Friday in ceremonies at the Coast Guard station on Ediz Hook.
While the ceremony is open to the public, there are limited accommodations for public viewing.
Several dignitaries will be present, including the North Olympic Peninsula’s congressman, Norm Dicks, D-Bremerton.
Dicks, the keynote speaker, is a member of the House Appropriation Subcommittee for Defense and Military Construction.
Rear Adm. Erroll M. Brown will oversee the ceremonies. Brown is the 13th Coast Guard District commander.
Also present will be Acting Group Commander Cmdr. Brant Weaver; the Adelie’s commander, Chief Boatswain’s Mate Tim Schwab; a chaplain, Cmdr. Edwin Carroll; and Charlotte Bollinger of Bollinger Shipyards.
