PORT ANGELES — Supporters of the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center and Business Incubator broke ground on the project Friday at the future site of the core facility.
About 150 people attended the ceremony.
Construction on the building at the intersection of Eighth and C streets will begin shortly.
In order to receive $3 million in state funds allocated for the project in June by Gov. Gary Locke, officials must complete the building by June 30, 2003.
“This is the cornerstone to economic development in Clallam County,” Jim Haguewood, Clallam County Economic Development Council executive director, said during the hour-long ceremony. “This is the site and location to grow companies.”
