Clean Sound Cooperative will place a 200-foot barge into service with a ceremony today at 11 a.m. at the Port of Port Angeles T-Pier off of Marine Drive.
The barge Ibis has been stationed in Port Angeles while undergoing maintenance and refitting. It is capable of storing nearly 850,000 gallons of skimmed oily water, Clean Sound President Richard Wright said in a statement.
The barge will be moved to Tacoma later this month and replaced by the 264-foot barge Kittiwake, capable of storing 982,000 gallons, Wright said.
