Primo Construction of Carlsborg will resume work Thursday on the portion of Old Olympic Highway between U.S. Highway 101 and Gasman Road.
Clallam County Road Department has budgeted $1.4 million to contract out the project, which adds a spur road off Old Olympic connecting to Highway 101 just east of the Washington State Patrol headquarters. The new road through a wetland area is intended to help O”Brien Road motorist cross 101 in heavy traffic.
The work on Old Olympic from U.S. 101 to Gasman Road, which includes rebuilding the old road and moving water and phone lines, is expected to run until mid-August, depending on weather. It is being resumed after a winter layoff.
The project was 30 percent completed last summer.
Motorists should expect minimal delays during construction, said Tom Ellis, an engineer for the Clallam County Road Department.
