PORT ANGELES — A proposed skate park in the northeast corner of Erickson Park near Race Street was approved by the city Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission on Thursday night.
The recommendation goes to the City Council at its Tuesday night meeting.
“If the council approves it, then the next step is to start fund-raising and defining the design ideas. Our goal is to be up and running by September,” said Doc Reiss of Nor’wester Rotary Club, which is sponsoring the project.
Grindline Skate Park Design of Seattle has designed a multi-use park for skateboarders, inline skaters and BMX bicycles that has an estimated construction cost of as much as $260,000.
