Port Angeles resident Lee Embree, whose aerial photographs of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor are now in the National Archives, is one of the veterans interviewed for a Discovery Channel special on the Day of Infamy.
The special is scheduled to air Sunday, the 62nd anniversary of the attack, at 8 p.m.
Embree, an Army Air Corps photographer, was flying above Pearl Harbor in a B-17 headed for the Marshall Islands on the day of the attack. As his plane passed Honolulu, Embree saw aircraft fire and began shooting photos.
The photographs have appeared in Life and other magazines around the world. The negatives are locked in a bank safety box, he said Wednesday.
