Mike Ridgway followed in his older brother’s footsteps when the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him on Wednesday.
Mike Ridgway, a 2001 Port Angeles High School graduate and currently a freshman at Tacoma Community College, was taken 42nd out of 50 by the Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball’s 2002 First-Year Player draft, which started Tuesday and concluded Wednesday. He was drafted 1,269 overall.
A left-handed pitcher, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Ridgway was one of 27 pitchers taken by Arizona in the draft.
The 19-year-old Ridgway is following right behind his brother, Jeff, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays three years ago right out of high school.
