PORT ANGELES — Average monthly moorage fees at Port Angeles Boat Haven will increase by an average of 88 percent, depending upon boat slip size, during the next five years.
The fee increase will help fund an estimated $5.5 million in improvements to the more than 40-year-old marina on the south side of Port Angeles Harbor.
Port commissioners voted 2-1 Monday to increase the fees, with Port Commissioner Leonard Beil dissenting.
Beil did not object to raising the fees, but said he wanted the increases stretched over 10 years instead of five to make them less steep for boat owners.
The new rates take effect beginning Jan. 1.
