PORT ANGELES — The Port will seek a “possession and use agreement” for the proposed state Department of Transportation graving yard.
But a consultant’s sobering report on potential alternative uses for the facility caused Port of Port Angeles commissioners some pause on Monday.
The commissioners will consider an agreement plus operating and lease agreements with the state at their next meeting, set for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Port headquarters, 330 W. First St.
Transportation wants the agreements so the 20-acre, multimillion-dollar graving project in Marine Drive east of the Daishowa America paper mill can go out to bid in February, Port Executive Director Clyde Boddy said.
“We probably still will have some questions. This gives us the opportunity to ferret out that information,” Boddy said.
