Port Angeles: Port’s 2004 budget shows slight tax increase

PORT ANGELES — A public hearing on the Port’s 2004 property tax levy and budget is set for 10 a.m. Monday in the meeting room at the Port’s headquarters, 330 W. First St.

The 2004 budget is $12.2 million, compared with $6.35 million in 2003.

The difference is the revenue from sale of the graving yard site to the state Department of Transportation and 3.8 acres to Westport Shipyard.

The Port’s 2004 property tax rate will be 24.68 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation, or $37.02 for the owner of a $150,000 home.

The 2003 property tax rate was 24.35 cents, 1.3 percent lower.
