PORT ANGELES — The quiet closure of PRIME has come as a surprise to Alaska Tanker Co. and others that have worked with the marine topside repair company.
The 3-year-old business closed its doors last week, eliminating a company that has focused on local labor and attracted vessels that might otherwise undergo repairs in Puget Sound.
PRIME, or Pacific Rim Industrial & Marine Engineering, in a letter last week to vendors cited financial difficulties as its reason for closing.
President Jim Mattix on Wednesday declined to comment on the company’s closure.
