PORT ANGELES — A homeowners group supporting city annexation of lands between the eastern city limit and Morse Creek has surfaced to counter one that opposes annexation.
Jerry Sampont, a retired Seattle policeman who owns a house in Gales Addition, said his “large group”‘ of residents in the affected area would back such a move if the City Council decides to try.
Sampont’s group is a response to an eight-year-old homeowners group, the Bay Loop Neighborhood Association, whose leader, Francis Cummings, was one of two main speakers at a luncheon meeting of the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce on Monday.
About 90 chamber members and guests assembled at the Port Angeles CrabHouse restaurant to hear from Cummings and Bob Martin, Clallam County community development director.
They discussed the annexation proposal which is still on the drawing boards at City Hall.
