Hundreds of people are expected to walk around the track at Port Angeles High School tonight in the 15th annual 24-hour Relay for Life.
Beginning at 6 p.m. and running to 6 p.m. Saturday, it is the American Cancer Society’s biggest fund-raiser for Clallam County.
Participating teams of walkers, their sponsors and supporters will surround the track with tents, lounge chairs, ice chests and other comforts. Individuals who want to do solo walks are also welcome.
Local bands will entertain. Service clubs will provide food and drink. Cancer survivors do the first lap at 6:15 p.m.; at 11 p.m. participants will hold candles in memory of friends and relatives who died from cancer.
Relay for Life fund-raisers on the North Olympic Peninsula also are slated for July 11-July 12 at Blue Heron Middle School in Port Townsend and July 25-July 26 at Forks High School.
