PORT ANGELES — About 50 people attended a Memorial for the Unborn Sunday afternoon at Mount Angeles Cemetery to protest the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion on its 29th anniversary.
Deacon James Bemis from Bremerton’s Our Lady Star of the Sea Church was one of five speakers at the 45-minute ceremony, which included eight Knights of Columbus members in full uniform.
“It was a pretty good turnout considering the weather,” said Nick Gear, Grand Knight of the James G. Caldwell Council No. 2260 of the Knights of Colombus.
The Knights of Columbus Council No. 2260 and Peninsula Human Life sponsored this year’s observance, which was followed by a reception at Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Church.
