PORT ANGELES — After 19 years, Rose Lumber is going out of business.
Owners Rhonda Rose-Rieker and Jerry Rieker placed a sign on the door of the 724 E. First St. business Monday saying the store is closed to prepare for its final sale, which begins Thursday.
“We feel it’s time to move on to the next chapter in our lives,” Rose-Rieker said. “Sometimes you can’t move on until you’ve closed a chapter.”
Rose-Rieker’s parents, Ken and Linda Rose, started the business in 1982, and it has remained family-owned and operated.
Since the Rayonier Inc. pulp mill closed in March 1997, sales have been flat, Rose-Rieker said.
