PORT ANGELES — The School Board on Monday received a list of 39 recommendations from its blue ribbon fiscal advisory panel to cut up to $1 million from the 2003-04 operating budget.
None of the top recommendations calls for closing a school, although the School District Fiscal Advisory Committee does recommend deep cuts in athletic programs, restructuring the Choice High School administration and moves that would increase students’ lunch costs.
The committee is a 16-member group comprising of district staff, School Board members, union leaders and community members.
Its list of recommendations were presented to the School Board on Monday night.
The School Board will conduct a series of public forums to gain community comment before making budget cuts May 19.
