PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles School District Superintendent Jane Pryne has announced that she will retire at the end of the current school year.
Pryne made the announcement an email sent to staff earlier this week but she has not yet submitted a formal letter to the School Board.
“After 37 years in education and 12 of those years spent as a superintendent in two different states, I am hanging up my high heels in favor of running shoes,” Pryne said in the email.
Pryne said her final day with the district will be June 30, 2014.
She will discuss her departure at tonight’s regular School Board meeting at 7 at Hamilton Elementary School, but will not submit her formal letter.
The process to find a new superintendent will likely begin at the Oct. 10 regular School Board meeting, she said.
