PORT ANGELES — Area youths in Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA are beginning to benefit from a trust fund settlement.
Trustees of the K.O. Erickson trust fund began withholding donations to the two organizations in 1996 after questions arose about how trust money was being spent.
The fund was established by Port Angeles businessman Karl Olaf Erickson, who died in 1953, to benefit local members of the Salvation Army, YMCA, Girl Scouts of the USA, Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America.
