The U.S. Air Force and the Oregon Civil Air Patrol continue to search for a small plane that disappeared last week over southern Oregon on its way to Port Angeles.
Meanwhile, a friend of the missing plane’s pilot says he will offer a $10,000 reward for credible information on the plane’s whereabouts.
Yuri Avrutin and Bengt-Olov Sj^pgstr^pgm, both of New York City, were flying a single-engine airplane from McKinleyville, Calif., to Port Angeles on Dec. 11 when it disappeared from radar near the Oregon-California border.
The Coast Guard’s North Bend Group has suspended its search of the waters off the southern Oregon coast.
However, the Air Force and the Oregon Civil Air Patrol are pressing on.
Monday’s weather slowed the search effort, but searchers covered a lot of ground Tuesday after weather improved, Oregon Civil Air Patrol Capt. Bob Asher said.
