PORT ANGELES — A 49-year-old man who motored away from Port Angeles last month in his 30-foot Chris-Craft boat has not been seen since.
And that may be exactly what he wants.
Terry Pumphreys departed from Port Angeles alone in his boat, Mystical Dreamer, on Sept. 27.
“He was headed out to sea to commit suicide,” U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Chris Germain at the Rescue Coordination Center in Seattle said. “He left without wanting to be found.”
The Coast Guard on Thursday suspended the case — including broadcasts describing the Mystical Dreamer and requesting information on Pumphreys or his craft — pending more information.
“We pretty much exercised all the options that were available to us based on the information we have,” Mitch Cline, a Coast Guard auxiliary member in Seattle, said Thursday.
