A Seattle radio station has reapplied for an increase to 50,000 watts of broadcasting power that would silence a Port Angeles radio station.
Inspiration Media Inc. wants to build a transmitter near Kent for its KKOL-AM 1300. If the Federal Communications Commission approves, Inspiration — a subsidiary of Salem Communications — would surrender the license of Port Angeles” KIKN-AM, which broadcasts next door on the dial at 1290 kilohertz, the industry newsletter NWBroadcasters.com reported Thursday.
Radio Pacific Inc. of Port Angeles sold KIKN to Inspiration earlier this year. Formerly a country music station, KIKN has simulcast KKOL’s lineup of conservative talk shows and religious programming since February.
