PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Housing Authority officials have plans to launch a “self help housing” neighborhood on the city’s west side.
Pam Teitz, the authority’s executive director, said the agency is in the process of acquiring a five-acre site at 18th and O streets. As many as 21 homes will be built through the program.
The project will be known as Madrona Woods.
Teitz said the housing authority is taking home-buyer applications for the first 10 homes to be built.
The “self help” program requires homebuyers to invest their own labor — 30 hours of “sweat equity” a week.
