PORT ANGELES — An appeal of the Saturday downtown farmers market conditional use permit comes before the City Council on Monday with both sides still nowhere near an amicable resolution after four months of contentious public hearings and court proceedings.
The closed record appeal hearing begins at 6 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers, 321 E. Fifth St.
City Planning Manager Sue Roberds said the hearing will be based upon the established public record and the council will act upon that record.
The council will decide if proper procedure was followed in granting the conditional use permit extension and if the decision was based upon the facts, Roberds said.
Only the participants will be allowed to speak and no new information can be introduced, she said.
Whatever the council decides can be appealed to Clallam County Superior Court.
Market operators are seeking to extend the permit that allows them to set up on Laurel Street between First and Front streets on Saturdays year-round.
