PORT ANGELES — Opponents of the proposed Oak Street hotel and conference center told the Shoreline Hearings Board on Monday the project would block valuable views of homeowners on the Second Street bluff and permanently rob the public of waterfront property.
The six-member board began three days of hearings Monday in the case Tod McClaskey Jr. et al v. Ehm Architecture, city of Port Angeles, Port of Port Angeles and state Department of Ecology — an appeal of the city’s shoreline substantial development permit for the downtown project.
The hearing, which is open to the public, resumes at 9:30 a.m. today and Wednesday in the Port Angeles City Council chambers of City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
A decision in the case is expected to be announced in June.
Monday’s presentations included opening statements and visits to the proposed hotel and conference center site and to the Second Street bluff.
