William Shore Memorial Swimming Pool at 225 E. Fifth St. reopens at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday following its annual maintenance shutdown. The pool has been closed since Memorial Day.
The maintenance work involved more than 500 hours of city staff and 26 gallons of paint which took 14 days to dry.
The pool was scrubbed, scrapped, given an acid bath, then rinsed. Underwater lights and tile grout were replaced where needed. Restrooms, lockers and interior walls also were repainted.
Refilling the pool with the approximately 200,000 gallons of 55-degree water took one day.
Reheating that water to 84 degrees will take three days.
