PORT ANGELES — An astronomy, geology and integrated science teacher at Port Angeles High School has been selected to the Solar System Ambassador program, an outreach program of NASA, for the second time.
John Gallagher was first picked as an National Aeronautics and Space Administration ambassador in 1999.
Gallagher, 35, has taught at Port Angeles High School for seven years. He hosts a variety of public outreach programs on the North Olympic Peninsula.
“It was kind of nice to get reinstated this year to the ambassador program because I had been offered a job at Arizona State University but chose to stay here,” he said.
“It gives me an opportunity to be actively involved with NASA, teach and be in an area my family loves.”
