PORT ANGELES — Christopher Roy sat in the cab of his truck, intently focused on the two junked cars and a van before him.
He couldn’t go around them — the crowd at the Clallam County Fairgrounds would boo him.
He had to go over them.
This was the Outlaw Monster Truck Challenge freestyle competition.
Roy revved the engine on his monster truck, “High Anxiety,” eased off the clutch and floored the gas pedal.
The purple truck erupted over the top of the first car, which acted as a ramp launching him atop the van.
“High Anxiety” crashed down on the van and rolled easily over the top of the second car amid the cheers the nearly 1,400 in attendance Friday.
Roy’s move was the highlight of monster truck performances Friday and Saturday at the fairgrounds.
The Outlaw Monster Truck Challenge attracted nearly 3,000 people to the fairgrounds this weekend.
