The youthful BMX riders who compete on the track raised a record $9,690.50 on Sunday for the track’s annual Race for Life, which raises money for Leukemia Society of America.
Port Angeles has been one of the top fund-raising tracks in the country for the past several years.
“Every year the Race for Life gets bigger and bigger for us,” said Mike Thomas, the track operator.
For instance, last year Port Angeles area riders raised $6,450. For the second year in a row in 2000, Port Angeles was the fourth-best track in the United States in fund-raising out of 200 tracks.
