PORT ANGELES — After months of uncertainty about the Gateway Project, the City Council has approved a site for the planned downtown bus hub.
The City Council unanimously voted late Tuesday to approve locating the project on a portion of a city block known as “Tidelands East,”‘ bounded by Railroad Avenue and Front, Lincoln and Laurel streets.
The decision means the city can now begin finalizing designs and compiling information for property acquisition, City Manager Mike Quinn said.
“Now that that’s out of the way, we have the green light to move ahead,” Quinn said.
“I think there’s a lot of positive energy now on this project.”
