PORT ANGELES — The parent company of Pacific Rim Industrial & Marine Engineering’s biggest competitor is looking at expanding another ship repair subsidiary into Port Angeles Harbor.
Frank Foti, president and chief executive officer of Shipyard America LLC, confirmed Tuesday that he has visited Port Angeles in recent days to inspect facilities on behalf of subsidiary Washington Marine Repair.
Shipyard America also owns Cascade General Inc. of Portland, Ore. Foti heads that company as well as the parent corporation.
Foti said he could not comment specifically on the company’s plans, although he said Port Angeles is an ideal location for a topside repair business.
His recent visit to Port Angeles comes on the heels of the closure of Pacific Rim Industrial & Marine Engineering — or PRIME — owned by Jim and Lynn Mattix of Port Angeles.
