The Western Wind is going back in the water again, but it won’t be going far.
The trawler — seized in part by a Port Townsend-based Coast Guard cutter on Feb. 21, 2001, during the Pacific Northwest’s largest maritime cocaine bust — could be moved out of dry dock in Port Angeles as early as Monday.
Platypus Marine, which leases the land on which the Western Wind is being stored, will move the boat into the harbor to make way for additional work projects, Platypus Financial Manager Kevin Blake said.
It will probably remain in Port Angeles for at least an additional six months.
A forfeiture trial will be held in the fall, Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter Mueller said.
