The trial of a man accused of killing a Clallam County sheriff’s deputy may be delayed from its scheduled Sept. 3 starting date.
A Western State Hospital doctor who is expected to testify on the mental state of defendent Thomas Martin Roberts will be vacationing during the trial, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Dick Suryan told Clallam County Superior Court Judge George L. Wood at a status hearing Wednesday.
Suryan is expected to request a continuance for the trial.
Roberts is charged with aggravated first-degree murder in the Aug. 5, 2000, shooting death of Deputy Wally Davis at Roberts’ Ennis Creek home.
