PORT HADLOCK — A 5-year-old boy survived a tumble into chilly Chimacum Creek on Monday after he was swept downstream by its rushing waters.
Young Michael Galle was listed in stable condition in Jefferson General Hospital in Port Townsend on Monday evening as he recovered while surrounded by family members and friends.
“It was an outstanding outcome,” said Ryan Mackey, a friend of the family. “He was really lucky.”
Sgt. Rick Smith of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place on Chimacum Creek near the Hunt Road bridge.
The water was extremely high and moving quickly, he said.
