A 16-year-old Port Ludlow teenager died from acute alcohol intoxication, autopsy reports have concluded.
But Jefferson County Coroner Juelie Dalzell, also the county prosecuting attorney, said she could not reveal the amount of alcohol in the blood of Shane Thomas Luther when he died sometime between Feb. 7 and Feb. 8.
Dalzell said state law requires her to get permission from family members before she releases the autopsy results, which includes a toxicology report.
Dalzell made her comments Monday as members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office prepare to wrap up their investigation into Luther’s death.
“There weren’t any other substances,” said Dalzell, when asked if the toxicology report found something other than alcohol in Luther’s blood.
“It was alcohol poisoning,” she said.
