PORT LUDLOW — Firefighters extinguished a chimney fire Tuesday afternoon before it could severely damage a home on Belfrage Road.
The fire broke out as a woman who lives in the house prepared to pick her children up from school, according to Fire District No. 1 (Port Ludlow) spokeswoman Denise Manly.
Fire officials declined to identify the residents of the home or its owner.
Nobody was injured in the fire.
Fire engines from District No. 1 and District No. 3 (Chimacum) were dispatched to the fire, she said.
Firefighters quickly put out the blaze and determined that it had not spread to adjacent walls, she said.
Manly said the house sustained smoke damage, but was habitable.
A damage estimate was not immediately available.
