PORT LUDLOW — Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue has hired a new assistant chief.
Ed Wilkerson, 48, joins the fire district staff to oversee operations and emergency medical staff training.
Wilkerson, who will be paid a salary of $74,000, will oversee 10 firefighters and 30 volunteers.
“I am loving it,”‘ he said.
“This is a great community and a terrific fire department.
“They have done a good job and I am looking forward to being a part of it.”
Transferring from Vancouver (Wash.) Fire District No. 6, Wilkerson has worked in emergency services for 28 years.
“I am happy to have him aboard,” said Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue Chief Wayne Keir.
“We needed the help and he is going to be a great asset to help our team.
