Port of Port Angeles buys industrial site on Marine Drive

PORT ANGELES – The Port of Port Angeles has completed the purchase of 2 acres of industrial property on Marine Drive across from the port’s Boat Haven.

The former Blake Sand and Gravel site is at 720 Marine Drive. It is in close proximity to the port’s boatyard, marine terminals, various marine trade tenants and Westport Shipyard, port Commissioner Jim McEntire said as he made the announcement of the $450,000 purchase.

“It’s a nice addition to the port,” McEntire said.

The port plans to interconnect properties but has no permits yet for future uses, port Executive Director Jeff Robb said.

The port will have more definite plans for the property within the next two months, he said.

The property purchase is in line with the goals set out in the port’s strategic plan of acquiring new industrial properties to support current jobs/businesses or create new family-wage jobs in Clallam County, according to a port statement.

“The purchase of this property compliments the port’s existing industrial/waterfront property portfolio.” Robb said. “The ultimate goal for this property is to put it to work for the citizens of the port district by creating jobs.”
