PORT ANGELES — Stating he believes ethics have been violated by his colleagues, Port of Port Angeles Commissioner James D. Hallett has announced his intention to resign.
He made the announcement during Tuesday’s regular port commission meeting, adding he is working with Simon Barnhart, the port’s attorney, to figure out the logistics of the move.
“It is my belief that the actions of my fellow commissioners . . . violated the open public meetings act . . . if not in technical terms, then certainly [in] the spirit and essence of both,” Hallett said during the announcement.
He also said the actions of fellow commissioners have “destroyed any trust,” and that he cannot continue on the path they have laid out.
Connie L. Beauvais and Colleen M. McAleer, fellow commissioners, said they were sorry Hallett felt he needed to resort to a resignation and denied his allegations.
