The Port of Port Angeles commission race between incumbent John Calhoun and challenger Brad Collins will go into a hand recount, the Clallam County Canvassing Board declared this morning after certifying the Nov. 3 general election results.
The recount will take place Dec. 2 through Dec. 4, said Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand.
In the meantime, Clallam County Auditor’s Office staff will prepare the ballots for the recount.
Calhoun is leading with 9,295 votes (50.06 percent). Collins has 9,274 votes (49.94 percent).
Another close race, between Max Mania and Edna Petersen for Port Angeles City Council Position 2 won’t go into a mandatory recount.
Certification solidifies victory for Mania who has 2,737 votes (50.38 percent).
Petersen, who has said she will not request a recount, has 2,696 votes (49.62 percent).
Thirty-two ballots were counted today.
