PORT TOWNSEND — The Port of Port Townsend has purchased a used 20-foot utility boat.
Executive Director Larry Crockett said the boat will allow the Port greater flexibility in working on the water.
The boat cost the Port $9,000 — plus an additional $8,000 for a new engine.
The boat is powerful enough to tow a disabled fishing boat, can be used to deploy a containment booms and has a front end that opens to allow removal of debris from the water.
It can also be used in the area’s contingency plans for disasters.
