PORT TOWNSEND — The runway at Jefferson County International Airport will be lengthened by 200 feet so equipment allowing instrument landings can be installed.
Port of Port Townsend Executive Director Larry Crockett reported the proposed change while discussing airport issues with Jefferson County commissioners Monday.
With the extension, the runway will be 3,200 feet long, Crockett said. The Federal Aviation Administration has final approval and will provide 90 percent of the funding for the project, he added.
The 3,200 feet is the minimum length for airports to have instrument flight equipment.
